How working as a Corporate Event Planner in Berlin changed my Outlook
There is nothing that I enjoy more than hosting teams from all over the world in our online events; however, it is my work as a corporate event planner to connect all those wonderful minds who are coming from all parts of the world and staying in my city, Berlin. It is such a pleasure to help these amazing companies host all these lovely events for their extremely talented employees, who might sometimes feel overworked. Like I often say, "You work hard, you party hard." That is something I have always believed in my life. When you have to party, there's nothing like Kitty Party.
Not just because we assist you to arrange the best facilities for your events, but because organizing these events is enjoyable for us. On the surface, it might look like just one person juggling many things, but no one has ever succeeded alone. At Kitty Party, we definitely have many, many associates who work together to bring joy to our company events.
Venues
A premium venue sets the vibe of the entire event
From what I have learned as an offline event planner, I definitely know the whole city of Berlin, if not more. I attend all our networking parties. Our teams diligently create all these databases to find the best locations for our events. Wherever I go, the city looks to me like a collection of stages where something beautiful can be hosted. It is so surprising how every building looks like a possible location for a possible event to my eyes. It's amazing how one location can excite one client while being completely unsuitable for another. Some want it cozy, some want it bright just near the riverbank, and some want it on top of the city. My personal visits to every place have changed because I view them all from the perspective of an event planner. As I write this, it seems like I am penning a poem; however, it is as practical as it can get.
In the hunt for good food and drinks
I have always been a foodie, to the extent that I would hop from Korea to Japan just to taste their soft cotton cheesecakes and would take a train all the way from Berlin to the Black Forest to delve into a black forest cake. It's not just desserts that excite me; I would go to another part of the city if I heard something even vaguely about the spiciest noodles in the town. My heart just flutters out of gratitude that my love for food has its applications at my work.
One of my favorite drinks
As an event host and manager, I have to make sure that I help in arranging the food so that it fits everyone’s requirements in terms of taste, preference, and cuisine, and something that is very important in a metropolitan city like Berlin is the inclusiveness. We have a gang of gem hunters in Berlin, and this corporate planning work of mine gives a higher mission to our clan. I've found many of the best hidden caterers in town and know where to find the best cuisines you've never tried before! I have gained a lot of expertise over drinks as well; I can tell you what drinks are more appreciated among the teams and dive into the quality beer brands in Berlin.
Networking
More often than not, I surprise my friends who were born and raised in Berlin by how well I know the city and how often I run into people I already know.
I leave no restaurant, good concept store, or bar without conversing with the people there. I was reading somewhere that the only shortcut you can ever apply to your business is by networking with the right people. There are people who are yelling out loud for something different, and then there is that something different without even getting noticed.
I have been to a multitude of events where I got the opportunity to meet and work with many interesting people from the event industry. No artist goes unnoticed by Kitty Party. I feel blessed that it is my job to connect hard-working, creative, and talented people with an event they would totally make a difference at.
Documenting the details
Considering every aspect of an event is important
When we organize large-scale events, there is so much that is being discussed, and there are so many parties involved in bringing the event together. Caring for each detail and then recording those details bit by bit, word by word is of the utmost importance. This is something I never knew would make such a big difference. I meticulously consider all aspects of the paperwork, and our documents are elaborate. Creating databases and connecting with the right people has always proven useful in a variety of situations. You can go to great lengths for an event, but the only thing that matters to the people may be as trivial as candies. Investing in the details from the color of the balloon to the shape of the napkin to the selection of the drinks is really important.
I learned to care for minute details, and it has brought me a long way, as customers are always appreciative of the detailing I put into my work.
A single label cannot cover all groups
Individuals are different, and groups are different too. It is so surprising to see how different teams in the same company have totally different vibes, preferences, and things that bring them joy. Knowing more about a group is extremely important, but as external event planners, we don't get the luxury of getting to know the groups in all the wonderful companies we host. It is the sliver of an idea and description that we receive from the company that merely guides us in carrying out our duties.
People are vibrant and colorful like these cups, and that makes every event special
All the events are different because the people who attend them are so different. At Kitty Party, we have learned to create events that are as unique as the groups themselves, addressing the core needs of each team. Every time we do an event, the menu, the bar, the mocktails, the music, the ambience, the games, the flow of the event, and the priorities are different.
The objective of the Events
The motive of the events is always different in all the groups; sometimes it's just to give them a good break out of their routine, and other times it's to bring them into maximum engagement with each other beyond the daily office work. In some, the goal is to promote individuality, and in others, the aim is to strengthen the bond among all. The objective of the event will determine whether the event will be filled with interactive games or include some relaxing time on the couch. Some teams would not even step onto the dance floor, and some instead would not leave the floor.
A flexible team for backups
At Kitty Party, we plan all the details and remember to document them all, but the funny thing about life is that it refuses to be planned, and that's when the backup plans for it all come in handy. Backup strategies for everything, ranging from food, drinks, music, and entertainment. It takes a motivated team to make an event a success. A team that is always expecting last-minute changes and surprises and fitting them all in makes a large difference. The art of flexibility is very important in the field of office event planning, and a team has to be flexible and accommodating enough for everything that goes unplanned.
